Not as easy as I was led to believe

Reviews I have read made it seem like this pattern would be pretty simple but I'm finding it anything but. Maybe my pleather is too thick and I haven't got a color printer so figuring out which lines were my size was a nightmare in building the pattern to start with. All printers have some slop so not every part aligned perfectly in taping the segments together. I was super careful to make sure I cut out my size but now about halfway done, I can tell it's way too small. The fork detail application didn't work out anything as shown and it's also rather difficult to have to stop every now and then to run to my computer and check the online reference guide. I have been sewing with purchased paper patterns for probably about 40 years but this is the first time I've downloaded to print out my own and it's not been a very good experience. Anyone using this pattern, you MUST make a mockup on cheap material first. That is what my pleather is for, before I proceed to the same thickness of leather and I will have to do the mockup again as it is. I did build my own faux leather apron once before from scratch but wanted help to do it with leather so I didn't screw it up. Now it's looking like I'll do about half and half: half this pattern for the pleats, then all the rest on my own.
